Welcome to the Department of Information and Communication Technologies which is under the Faculty of Information, Communication and Digital technologies at the University of Mauritius.
ICT is an umbrella term for all technologies that involves the transformation of data and the communication of that information to where it is needed. ICT is having a major impact on nearly every aspect of our lives as we are living in a constantly evolving digital world. In the last ten years, the ICT sector in Mauritius has experienced a sustained growth and is now a major pillar of the Mauritian economy, representing 5.6% of the country’s GDP. The ICT Department aims at providing an innovative and a creative future for the ICT graduates and postgraduates for them to be able to serve the growing needs of ICT sector for the benefit of society. Currently, the department is offering the BSc (Hons) Computer Science and MSc Network Security and Management programmes. We have also partnered with the University of Arizona (USA) to offer the Bachelor of Applied Science in Cyber Operations.
Besides teaching and administrative duties, academics in the department are actively engaged in research in the following fields: computer networks, computer & network security, programming paradigms, parallel processing, IPv6, cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, databases and artificial intelligence. Academics from the department regularly participate in national and international conferences to share their knowledge and expertise.
