Department of Information Communication Technology
ICT is concerned with the definition, representation, processing and communication of information using computer and networking technologies. In response to the growing need for ICT professionals in government, industry and academic institutions, the ICTD is being set up to show our commitment to supporting, improving and transforming the way ICT is used. The programmes on offer will help open the doors for students who want to build a successful career as an ICT professional. Additionally the department will also support the university’s effort to identify itself as an institution that fosters excellence in teaching, research and consultancy.
Objectives
The programmes in this department will provide students the opportunity to explore the spectrum of disciplines that underpins Information and Communication Technology and equip them with the required array of knowledge and skills needed to take on appropriate professional positions in industry; grow into leadership positions, achieve entrepreneurial ambition and/ or pursue research careers in ICT. Additionally the postgraduate programmes will help students acquire the competitive edge required in this rapidly converging information and communication world to move their career ahead whether it is in industry or academia. To be in par with international best practices the latest recommendations of ACM has been used to spearhead the creation of the ICT Department.
