Hello Dear Students,

I wish you a warm welcome to the Department of Social Studies of this Faculty!

You are hereby a proud member of this multidisciplinary department consisting of four Units namely: Communication Studies, Psychology, Sociology and Social Work. We also offer a course in Peace and Interfaith studies. You are very important to us and we want you to feel as a member of a large family.

A wide range of programmes are offered by the Department thus channeling students into different fields of expertise and careers such as social work, journalism, counselling, teaching, social research and analysis, psychologists among others. The Department works closely with all the sectors of society: the public, the private sectors as well as the Non-Governmental Organisations through consultancy projects, research and placements. Academic staff of the Department work together to provide high standards of both teaching and support. Moreover, they are also actively engaged in a number of research projects at national, regional and international levels. Members of the department have been involved as consultants on issues related to domestic violence, gender equality, poverty, street children, drug abuse, social policy, psychosocial issue, media and democracy among others.
