On February 13, ABC Banking in Mauritius threw a vibrant Spring Festival celebration, where volunteer teachers of Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius dazzled the audience with traditional Chinese calligraphy. They offered bank employees and customers an immersive Eastern cultural experience, sharing New Year blessings through every stroke of the brush.
Upon arrival, the volunteer teachers set up a booth with calligraphy tools, "Fu" characters, and couplets, which attracted the audience greatly. They provided models for the crowd to try calligraphy.

Rachel, an employee of ABC Banking, wrote her first Chinese character after guidance and proudly displayed her handiwork of the classic poem Quiet Night Thought.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the "Writing Chinese Names" session. Eager to see their names rendered in elegant Chinese script, participants eagerly selected red paper and queued up. Witnessing their Western names transformed into Eastern calligraphy, everyone was filled with delight and cherished their unique "cultural souvenir."

Through the art of calligraphy, this event vividly showcased Chinese New Year traditions like posting "Fu" characters and couplets, thus enhancing cultural bonds. As participants wrote and received their Chinese names, they truly felt the warmth and richness of Chinese culture.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius is dedicated to promoting Chinese language and culture locally. Its collaboration with ABC Banking brought festive joy into the workplace and also strengthened cultural ties between China and Mauritius. Looking ahead, the institute will continue organizing diverse cultural events to share the beauty of Chinese culture with an even wider audience in Mauritius.
