The third Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius was held on the 06th December 2019 at ZSTU, Hangzhou, China and was hosted by Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. The meeting was chaired by Professor WU Fengmin, Chair of ZSTU Council. The members of the Board present were: Professor GAO Zhengrong, Vice-President of ZSTU; Associate Professor KISTAMAH Naraindra, Mauritian Director of CI-UoM; Associate Professor TAN Xudong, Chinese Director of CI-UoM; Mr FU Xiang, Director of ZSTU International Exchange & Cooperation Office; and Professor JI Xiaofen, Chair of Executive committee and Dean of ZSTU School of International Education. The other attendees were: Professor FU Mingduan, Incoming Chinese Director of CI-UoM; representatives from ZSTU: Mrs JIANG Zhongmei, Director of the Office of CI, School of International Education; Mrs YU Jie, Staff of ZSTU School of International Education.
Professor Wu Fengmin welcomed all board members and invited Associate Professor Tan Xudong, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at UoM to present the Annual and Financial reports of 2019. The CI Director highlighted the major achievements of Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius and the expenses incurred. Dr. Kistamah, Mauritian Director, elaborated on the activities carried out in 2019, and thanked both universities for the support given to CI-UoM. He also thanked Associate Professor Tan Xudong for the hard work and dedication in popularizing Chinese Language and Culture at the University of Mauritius and across the island. Mr Tan has achieved all the objectives set during his term of office and he leaves behind a proud legacy of good work accomplished. The Mauritian Director is confident that the development of CI-UoM will continue to grow under the directorship of Professor Fu Mingduan, successor to the current Chinese Director, Associate Professor Tan Xudong.
Professor Wu Fengmin, Chairman of the Council of ZSTU and Chair of the Board, praised the work accomplished by CI-UoM in 2019 and congratulated both partner universities for the harmonious and friendly relationship between the two universities and countries.
All the members were given a copy of the annual and financial reports of 2019, CI-UoM work plan for 2020 and its corresponding budget. The Board discussed the annual and financial reports of 2019, the work plan and budget for 2020. The proposed work plan and budget were thought to be comprehensive and the Board approved the annual and financial reports of 2019, the work plan and budget for 2020 during the meeting.
