The visit was organized and coordinated by Prof Xiangdong Kong, Vice-Dean of Graduate School, ZSTU and the Head of ZSTU-UoM Joint Research Center for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (ZURC). ZURC has research expertise in bone regeneration, nano drug and gene delivery and anti-cancer therapy. The visit of Associate Prof Archana Bhaw-Luximon (Centre for Biomedical & Biomaterials Research, CBBR) and Dr Nowsheen Goonoo (Post-Doc, CBBR) was funded by ZURC.

Associate Prof Archana Bhaw-Luximon, CBBR gave a talk entitled ‘Innovative Materials-based Approaches for Regenerative Medicine & Cancer Nanomedicine’ with an overview of the research at Biomaterials, Drug Delivery and Nanotech (BDDN) Unit of CBBR.
- Industry collaboration
Prof Xiangdong Kong arranged the visits and discussion with two partner companies, Hangzhou Singclean Medical Products Co.,Ltd and Regenovo Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Both companies are involved in the joint international project application. According to the RCA between UoM and ZSTU, the two companies are involved in the industry collaboration with UoM and ZSTU (but not limited to these two companies).

- Joint Project and Funding
A joint project BDDN Unit, CBBR and ZSTU has been submitted to the Chinese Government for funding including two partners from Industry Singclean and Regenovo. - Exchange of students, joint PhD and biomaterials
- One PhD student and two MSc students from ZSTU to conduct project at BDDN Unit, CBBR;
- One joint PhD proposal for a Mauritian student in preparation;
- Application for a joint Post-Doc supported by Chinese government;
- Supply of new biomaterials for scaffolds;
- To promote cooperation with ZURC and its partner doctors in hospital;
- To promote government cooperation between Mauritius and Chinese CFDA.
- Appointment
Associate Prof Archana Bhaw-Luximon has been appointed as Visiting Professor to ZSTU for the period 2018-2021.
