On August 21st, Professor Wang Hui, Dean of the College of International Education and Social Development at Zhejiang Normal University, led a delegation of four to visit the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius. The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Kistamah, the Mauritian Director of the Confucius Institute, and Mandarin teacher Ms. Li Xiaoxia.
Dr Kistamah extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the development history of the Confucius Institute, the courses offered, teaching methods, facilities, faculty, cultural activities, scholarships, and the collaborations between the Confucius Institute and other institutions, with particular focus on the consistent support from Confucius Institute Partner University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Dr Kistamah expressed the hope for continued and strengthened communication and collaboration between the Confucius Institute and Zhejiang Normal University in the future.
Professor Wang Hui from Zhejiang Normal University said more and more teachers as well as students from both sides are interested in cultural and academic exchanges and discussions, Chinese language education in Mauritius, the challenges faced, future development plans, and possibilities. He expressed a desire to explore further collaboration with the Confucius Institute in the future.
After the visit, the Confucius Institute arranged the delegation's visit to Xinhua School in Mauritius, which is a century-old Chinese language school established in 1912, to study the history, current status, and future development of Chinese language education in Mauritius.
