On 13th February 2019, a ‘Mandarin Language and Chinese Culture’ course opens at Ravenala Attitude Hotel, Balaclava, Mauritius. The Mauritian Director of Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius welcome all the participants at the opening ceremony and talked about the importance of Mandarin in the hotel business sector. More and more Chinese tourists are travelling to different destinations around the world and Mauritius is a privileged destination for the Chinese tourists. Besides, formal language learning, the CI Director proposed the holding of some Chinese cultural activities at the hotel for the guests to know more about Chinese culture. He thanked Management of the Hotel for the great initiative and is very confident that the short course would serve the staff well.
Associate Professor Tan Xudong, Chinese Director at University of Mauritius, attended the ceremony in the company of the Assistant Human Resource Manager of the hotel, Miss Pateema Gopee.
Miss Li Xiaoxia, Chinese teacher for the course, was present for the class which followed the opening ceremony. There are 13 participants from different departments of the hotel. The course will last for 4 consecutive months. It is hoped that after the training, the participants are able to use simple and basic Chinese language to communicate with Chinese speaking guests.
