In April 2024, the award ceremony for the Second "Cangjie Cup" Global Chinese Characters Competition concluded successfully. Student Li Guyu from the children's class at CI-UoM, and Yali, a student from Lycée Labourdonnais and CI-UoM children’s class, won the "Global Third Prize," earning them an opportunity for an exchange visit to China. Their instructor, Yu Pengcheng of CI-UoM, was awarded the "Outstanding Instructor" title. Additionally, students Hou Shangling, Hu Xiaoding, Lu Yi, Luo Man, Mei Lan, Wan Long, Yan Na, and Juliet, all from CI-UoM support classroom, received the Excellence Award.
"The Cangjie Cup Global Chinese Characters Competition" is an international Chinese character competition for children and teenagers around the world, approved by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China.
The competition featured three categories: Eloquence, Writing and Drawing, and Singing and Dancing. It not only assessed students' knowledge of Chinese characters but also their understanding of Chinese culture. This competition enhanced students' knowledge and understanding of Chinese culture and characters, further igniting their enthusiasm for learning Chinese.
