The 2023 World Chinese Language Conference was held in Beijing from December 7th to 9th. Professor Zhou Biyu, the Vice President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU), Mr. Fu Xiang, the Director of ZSTU International Exchange & Cooperation Office, Mrs. Yu Jie, the staff of the ZSTU Confucius Institute Office, and the Mauritian Director Dr. Naraindra Kistamah along with the Chinese Director Professor Fu Mingduan of the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius, attended the conference.
The delegation from the CI UoM participated in the main forum and various plenary sessions of the conference, visited the International Chinese Education Achievements Exhibition and the Global Chinese Digital Special Language Exhibition. In addition, the representatives also attended the "Future Development of Confucius Institutes" forum and exchanged views and experiences with other Confucius Institute representatives at the parallel sub-forums on "Professional Degree Construction and Personnel Training of International Chinese Language Education" and "Integration and Development of Chinese Language with Vocational Skills".
This conference, under the theme of "Chinese for the World, Openness into the Future", was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and jointly held by the Centre for Language Education and Co-operation (CLEC), the Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF), and the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching. More than 2,000 representatives, including education authorities and institution leaders from over 160 countries, heads of international language and cultural promotion agencies and organizations, University Presidents, esteemed experts in Chinese languages education, sinologists, diplomats, as well as industry representatives, attended the conference for face-to-face exchanges, discussions, and sharing of experiences.
