On March 18th, Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius successfully organized the first HSK & HSKK exams of 2023. The exams were conducted face-to-face and covered HSK levels 3-6, as well as HSKK intermediate and advanced levels. A total of 24 candidates registered for the exams, and all of them arrived on time and participated in the exams in good order. The invigilators performed their monitoring duties carefully and ensured the smooth completion of all the exams.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, these were the first offline exams held by CI-UoM after a three-year hiatus. Confucius Institute has always attached great importance to HSK and HSKK examinations. Prior to the examination, all invigilating teachers participating in the HSK & HSKK exams were given collective training. The training required invigilating teachers to be familiar with the examination arrangements, examination procedures, and to carefully prepare for the pre-examination work. The training emphasized the specific examination process, special circumstances, the handling of abnormal situations and disciplinary measures for violations. At the same time, standardized requirements were established for the examination room layout and teacher language usage. One week before the exam, invigilating teachers conducted individual testing of the speaking test environment and equipment required for the HSKK exam, which ensured the normal operation of each computer and the smooth running of the exams.
HSK and HSKK are important examinations that test the ability of non-native Chinese speakers to use Chinese for communication in daily life, study, and work. They play a positive role in promoting Chinese language teaching and testing Chinese language learning. The Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius has always been committed to providing assistance to Chinese learners in Mauritius and will continue to provide high-quality Chinese language testing services to candidates.
