Charhar Institute is an independent think tank in China focusing on diplomacy and international relations. It was founded by Dr Han Fangming, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese’s People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in October 2009. The Charhar Institute is dedicated to creating an independent thinking institution with international influence and fostering an influential and cooperative opinion landscape.
On 18. April, Charhar Institute, led by General Secretary, Mr Zhang Guobin, gathered at the University of Mauritius for a brief introduction of the activities of Charhar Institute and the potential areas of cooperation. The meeting was chaired by the Directors of the CI-UoM. Deans of Faculties, Directors and Registrar were present.
Mr. Zhang praised the progress made by Confucius Institute at UoM and highly commended the support provided by the University of Mauritius. He sincerely wished Confucius Institute contributes to the furthering of exchange of cultures between the two countries and the fostering of friendship among the people of the two countries. Mr Zhang said that scholarships may be granted to the students of Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius for further studies at Charhar Institute and books related to the “Belt and Road Initiative” will be donated to CI-UoM
