On March 12nd , Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius successfully held its first HSK & HSKK test for 2022. Due to Covid 19, the test was held online (Home Edition) and a total of six proficiency tests were conducted, namely HSK Level 3, HSK Level 4, HSK Level 5, HSKK Primary, HSKK Intermediate and HSKK Advanced.
In 2022, new changes have been made to the rules of HSK & HSKK home edition online test, requiring candidates to apply for HSK and the corresponding level of HSKK at the same time, and test time period has increased from three to five hours. CI-UoM put emphasis on the preparation work, from the Chinese and English notice to the guidance of the candidates, verification of the candidates' information, and communication with candidates through WhatsApp group, telephone calls and offline meetings, and every step was done with great attention to clarity of information.
On 3rd and 4th March, Miss Li Xiaoxia, teacher at CI-UoM and test invigilator, conducted an online training for all candidates, instructed them how to install the testing software and inspected the test environment of each candidate to help them satisfy the external conditions. On March 5th, all candidates took part in a centralized mock test organized by Chinese Testing International. On the day of the mock exam, the invigilators helped the candidates solve various problems and ensured that every candidate understood the test procedures and was proficient in the use of the testing software.
On March 3rd, all invigilators at CI-UoM participated in the online training organized by Chinese Testing International to learn how to use the software and fully understand the issues that may arise during the online test and the corresponding measures to be implemented. On March 10th, Confucius Institute held online meeting to clarify responsibilities, precautions and follow-up work.
On the test date of March 12nd, the invigilators and candidates came to the online test room early, made preparations in sequence according to the requirements. At the end of the day, the six tests were completed successfully, the candidates responded accordingly and the testing software operated satisfactory throughout the exam.
Since the outbreak of Covid 19, Chinese Testing International has adapted to the changing situation and provided flexible examination services. CI-UoM also adjusted its examination methods accordingly to meet the needs of examinees. We hope that the candidates were able to perform well during the tests and wish them success.
