Inauguration of the Smart Classroom, Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius, 25 September 2025

The inauguration of a smart classroom at the Confucius Institute of the University of Mauritius (CI-UoM) was held on the 25^th September 2025 in the presence of Professor Zhao Quanjun, Chair of Council of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, our partner institution, and Chinese Chair of Confucius Institute Board, Professor Mohammad Issack Santally, Ag. Chairperson of the Board of CI-UoM and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Academia of the University of Mauritius, distinguished delegates from ZSTU, and esteemed members of the Board of Directors of CI-UoM. The event is a milestone in our effort and journey to enhance Chinese language education in Mauritius.

His Excellency Che Jun, then Party Secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Committee, visited the University of Mauritius, with a delegation from the Department of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, and donated funds for the setting up of the smart classroom which is more than just a space—it is a symbol of vision, perseverance, and international cooperation.

Thanks to the efforts of many individuals at the University of Mauritius and the unwavering support of our partners, the smart classroom is a reality—equipped to inspire, connect, and empower learners of Mandarin for years to come.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Zhejiang Provincial Government for their generosity and enduring friendship. Their support has not only enriched our academic environment but also strengthened the cultural bridge between our nations.

We hope that the classroom will be a place where language meets innovation, and where students discover not only the beauty of Mandarin, but also the benefits of cultural understanding, improved communication abilities and personal growth.
