Lara Wong Hee (黄依雯) has been enrolled to study Chinese Language from September 2025 to January 2026 in Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU) located in Hangzhou City, which is the partner university of the Confucius Institute at University of Mauritius. She has been learning Chinese since 2020 and has passed the HSK3 Chinese Proficiency Test. Fascinated by Chinese culture, she has seized every opportunity to participate in various Chinese cultural activities. In 2023, Lara Wong Hee proudly represented Mauritius and won the second prize at the Finals of the 16th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Secondary School Students. After graduation from college, she started her journey of learning Chinese language and experiencing new life in Hangzhou.
Below is a recount of her study on ZSTU campus and life in Hangzhou city in China.
“It’s been almost two months in Hangzhou and I love it. ZSTU and the language program helped me meet new amazing people from different cultures, generation and backgrounds to create new perspectives. Whenever I have some free time, I love going to the city center where there is the famous lake. West Lake is filled with great sceneries from touristic places to visit to mountains where lies Longjing village famous for its tea.”
