On August 1, an education delegation from the Medical School of Zhejiang visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius. They undertook a journey of medical service and learning across three continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe. Mauritius is the second stop of their trip. The team was led by two instructors and included six Chinese graduate students specializing in various medical fields, along with two international students from Kazakhstan and Indonesia. The team was warmly welcomed by Dr. Naraindra Kistamah, Mauritian Director, and Mrs Yang Fang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Mauritius.
The Directors introduced Confucius Institute at UoM and described collaborations with other institutions in Mauritius and China. Zhu Guoqiang, the instructor of the team, expressed gratitude for the hospitality and help extended by the Confucius Institute and introduced the purpose of their visit and the activities that they had accomplished in Mauritius, including meeting with alumni of Zhejiang University and visits to some local hospitals.
The team visited the Center for Biomedical and Biomaterials Research (CBBR) at the University of Mauritius. Jaumbocus Bibi Warda, a PhD. student in biomedical sciences and also a mandarin learner at CI-UoM, warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced the ongoing medical research at the centre in fluent Chinese. The exchange was short but full of promise. We look forward to future exchanges and cooperation in the medical research field between the two universities in the future.
