HR Activities

As an Employer, UoM ensures that all staff are regularly trained and developed. Training and development are an integral part of the activities and responsibilities of the Office of HR. The purpose is to improve performance and productivity, adapt to work culture, provide a safe workplace, and keep up to date with new technologies and organizational changes.
 
Sponsorship

Staff members also have the professional obligation to take responsibility to improve their skills and competencies. University staff may benefit from Sponsorships, opportunities to apply for scholarships & fellowships, short courses as well as workshops, seminars and conferences, subject to availability of funds. Training

RFS-G: Conferences/workshops Participation and Paper Presentation

The University of Mauritius encourages both academic and non-academic staff to attend and present papers at local and international conferences to exchange ideas in fields of interest and to promote networking for future collaboration. Conference proceedings are also a means to have research published and indexed.

 
HR Services

Psychological Support and Counselling

A pool of Psychologists (Clinical) provide amongst others, a first point of contact to staff members to express their concerns regarding professional, personal, financial, social or practical issues.


Occupational Health Physician for Medical Surveillance 

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 2005, the University of Mauritius, as a responsible employer, has enlisted the service of an Occupational Health Physician/s for medical surveillance of UoM staff, especially those who are exposed or liable to be exposed to a substance hazardous to health.


Testimonials 

Officers should make requests for testimonials by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. stating the purpose for which the testimonial is being requested.


For testimonial for EWF and SICOM, staff members should submit a copy of their most recent pay slip and ID card.


For testimonial for Mutual Aid, staff members should submit the above-mentioned documents and also two original duly filled-in undertaking forms which can be downloaded at https://www.mcsmutualaid.mu/files/UOM_Undertaking.pdf and https://www.mcsmutualaid.mu/files/UOM_GUARANTORS.pdf for applicant and guarantor (in any) respectively and also a copy of the ID card of the guarantor (if any).


Testimonials will normally be issued within 3 working days as from the date of request.


Note:

1.   Payslips received online should be printed and certified by the Finance Section before submission to the Office of Human Resources.

2.   The last day of the repayment period should be before the date of retirement for both applicant and guarantor.
