The Ayurveda Chair at the University of Mauritius, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, promotes the academic, scientific and evidence-based advancement of Ayurveda through education, research, innovation, capacity building and community engagement.
Established in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, the Chair provides a platform for interdisciplinary engagement between Ayurveda, contemporary health sciences, technology and preventive healthcare.
Its activities contribute to strengthening academic cooperation and promoting Mauritius as an emerging regional academic hub for Ayurveda and integrative health in the Indian Ocean region.
Key Focus Areas
- Education & Capacity Building – Academic lectures, professional development programmes, workshops, CME/CPE activities and short courses.
- Research & Innovation – Evidence-based Ayurveda, integrative health, preventive healthcare, Ayurveda Informatics, Artificial Intelligence and interdisciplinary research.
- Student Engagement – Research projects, dissertation opportunities, academic mentoring and interdisciplinary learning.
- Community Outreach – Ayurveda awareness, preventive health education, Prakriti-based wellness initiatives and public engagement.
