Google DevFest 2025 (4th October 2025)
The University of Mauritius, through its Faculty of Information, Communication and Digital Technologies (FoICT), proudly hosted Google DevFest 2025 in partnership with the Google Developers Group (Mauritius) and the Mauritius Software Craftsmanship Society on Saturday 4th October 2025. It is a major annual tech conference bringing together students, professionals, and tech enthusiasts to explore the latest trends in technology and innovation.
The event featured engaging talks, hands-on workshops, and live demonstrations on topics such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, web and mobile development, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Participants had the opportunity to interact with industry experts, Google Developer Experts (GDEs), and local innovators, gaining valuable insights into cutting-edge tools and real-world applications.
A team of academics from FoICDT, led by Dr Anuja Meetoo-Appavoo and including Associate Professor Anisah Ghoorah and Mr Somveer Kishnah, liaised with the organisers to coordinate the event. The success of the conference was made possible through the support of numerous other staff members (some who helped behind the scenes) - from technical support and logistics teams to office attendants. Their collective efforts contributed greatly to its smooth running. Mauritius Telecom sponsored the internet connectivity and provided technical support during the event. This ensured seamless online access for participants and contributed significantly to the success of Google DevFest 2025.
We are proud to see our campus buzzing with creativity and collaboration, reaffirming our mission to empower students and professionals to shape the future of technology in Mauritius and beyond.
