It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) of the University of Mauritius.  The department strives to offer high quality education and training to its students through programmes of studies which are well adapted to students’ aspirations and needs of the industry.  Our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are carefully structured based on international curricula and are recognised both nationally and internationally.  We also offer one programme in collaboration with the University of Arizona, USA.  Our programmes are regularly reviewed to meet the rapidly changing needs of the ICT sector.  All infrastructure required for conducting practical sessions are available in our general purpose and specialised labs.  The department also enrols students on MPhil/PhD programmes.

Academic staff of the department are very motivated and highly engaged in research and consultancy activities, and work on a number of multi-disciplinary research projects, some of which involve international collaboration and funding.  Our main research areas are in Computer Networks, Computer Security, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Speech Recognition, Computer Vision and Intelligent Systems.  The research output of our staff is highlighted through projects of national interest and publications in high impact international journals and conferences.

The ICT department works in close collaboration with the IT industry in numerous ways, namely in mounting and reviewing new programmes, organising various student activities (including programming competitions), providing guest lectures, taking students on board for industrial training among others.

The ICT department provides a conducive environment for the academic and personal growth of its students. The department will assist you to unleash your technological potential as well as providing you with all the necessary skills for your career. Our graduates are successfully working in reputed companies and organisations (either locally or abroad) as well as pursuing postgraduate studies.
