The Doctoral School at the University of Mauritius is pleased to organise the 5th Edition of the Doctoral Colloquium, to be held from 08 to 10 July 2026, under the theme "Doctoral
Education for Sustainable Development, Enhanced Resilience and Societal Impact".
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies, scheduled for Wednesday 08 July and Friday 10 July 2026, respectively, will be graced by Dr the Hon. Kaviraj Sharma SUKON, PFHEA, HFCo, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science and Research.
Celebrating its fifth edition, the Doctoral Colloquium has established itself as a flagship academic event that promotes research excellence, scholarly exchange, and collaboration among emerging researchers. This year's edition will bring together around 160 doctoral candidates from the University of Mauritius and other national and international institutions to present their research across carefully curated thematic tracks.
Delivered through a hybrid format comprising both in-person and virtual sessions, the Colloquium will provide an inclusive platform for doctoral candidates and academics to share research findings, engage in interdisciplinary discussions, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Each presentation session has been thoughtfully designed to encourage meaningful scholarly exchange, with dedicated discussants providing constructive feedback to enrich participants' research and academic development.
The theme "Doctoral Education for Sustainable Development, Enhanced Resilience and Societal Impact" underscores the pivotal role of doctoral education in addressing contemporary global challenges and generating innovative, evidence-based solutions for the benefit of society. Through the exchange of ideas and expertise, the Colloquium aims to strengthen research capacity, foster academic partnerships and inspire doctoral researchers to contribute to sustainable development, resilience, and positive societal transformation at national, regional, and international levels.
