Scholarships:

 

Mauritius Africa Scholarship (MASS)

The Government of Mauritius awards scholarships to deserving students who are resident citizens of member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries.

The Scholarship will support successful candidates in meeting their tuition fees and in contributing to their living expenses during their studies in Mauritius. Furthermore, the scholarship covers a return airfare by the most economical route. This will be valid for travel from the country of origin at the beginning of the studies and back to the country of origin upon successful completion of studies.

Medical Insurance

International students securing a seat on a taught programme at the University will be required to produce a medical certificate issued by any private Laboratory/Clinic/Hospital in Mauritius attesting that they are not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease, including HIV and Hepatitis B and they should also undergo a chest - X ray test and submit the test results to the University. All medical tests will be at the students’ own cost, in Mauritius

Accommodation

 

As the University is non-residential, students will have to make their own accommodation arrangements.

VISA

The University will submit applications for entry visa and residence permits for international students who are offered admission on any programme at the University of Mauritius.

Documents to be submitted by courier delivery:

(i) “Application form to Enter Mauritius” to be filled in and signed by the applicant.

(ii) Two recent passport size photographs of the applicant.

(iii) Photocopy of five first pages of passport (including page bearing photograph and date of issue).

(iv) An Original Bank Statement from parents or guardian bearing the signature of the Bank Officer and the seal of Bank, as evidence of adequate funds to meet costs of studies and stay in Mauritius.

(v) Letter of sponsorship from Account Holder duly signed and a copy of Identity Card/Passport from parent or guardian.

(vi) A statement undertaking that the applicant will not engage in gainful activities during the period of studies.

(vii) A medical certificate attesting that the applicant is not suffering from any contagious or infectious disease, and evidence of medical tests for HIV, Hepatitis B. A chest X-Ray certificate should also be submitted.

The University does not take the responsibility of prospective students’ families.

The International Affairs Office:

  • Fosters connections within the UoM community and abroad and arranges meetings for international visitors for the purposes of advancing UoM research and other academic goals. The office also assists in the organization of international conferences/workshops/symposiums.
  • Looks into opportunities to develop collaborations with international universities and institutions. It manages the approval process of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for International Collaborations, looks into the signature of MoU and updates the MoU Dashboard.
  • Facilitates staff and student mobilities/exchanges under the Erasmus + Programmes among others.

Looks into the recruitment of international students and provides support to prospective international students by facilitating the admission process.
