We are thrilled to announce that AquaTech, a team representing the University of Mauritius (UOM) from the Faculty of Agriculture, has secured the 2nd prize at the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme)-organized 3-day bootcamp and 1-day pitch competition on Ocean Renewable Energy.  The competition featured eight groups from various universities, including UTM and Polytechnics.

AquaTech was awarded Rs 75,000 for their outstanding project on "Offshore Floating Wind Farm," under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nadeem Nazurally.  The project proposes a 100MW offshore wind farm located in the North, at Grand Gaube.  This innovative wind farm consists of floating wind turbines that harness offshore wind energy for electricity production.  The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to Mauritius's goal of achieving 60% renewable energy by 2030, as outlined in the national budget.
