About CITS


The CITS of the University of Mauritius seeks to be a leading edge, high quality provider of computer-based network services, Management Information Systems and IT certification courses in support of UoM’s academic, research and public service missions through strong partnerships and informed leadership.

 

Role of CITS 

The Centre for IT and Systems (CITS) is structured into two departments: Information Technology Services (ITS) and Management Information Systems (MIS). The primary responsibilities of CITS include:

  • Provision, management, and support of a reliable and secure ICT infrastructure at the UoM;
  • Development, maintenance, and upgrade of UoM Management Information Systems used to streamline UoM business processes;
  • Develop, implement, and manage UoM Student Information System;
  • Management of CITS Helpdesk andprovision of ICT support to UoM end-users;
  • Management of CITScomputer Labs;
  • Support for UoM IP telephony system;
  • Support the implementation of UoM ICT projects;
  • Development and dissemination of IT policies for the efficient use and management of information technologies;
  • Advise University Management regarding potential IT solutions;
  • Guidance on procurement of ICT equipment and other IT systems;
  • Support for initiatives, in collaboration with academic staff, in research and teaching;
  • Contribution to the University's outreach efforts;
  • Development, maintenance, and support of UoM websites;
  • Management of UoM email and other online platforms;
  • Administration of UoM domain and subdomains;
  • Provision of IT skills training to University staff;
  • Other:
    • Provision of IT Certification/Short courses; and
    • Provision of IT Consultancy services;
